After World War II, the son of the man who designed the VW Beetle couldn’t find a car he wanted, so he decided to make one for himself. Almost twenty years after he started the company, they unveiled their iconic sports car in 1963. It went onto dominate the racing and rallying competition and become an icon for a pure automotive experience for any car enthusiast that could afford one. To celebrate it, we wanted to create a timepiece based on it’s clean, no nonsense dial instruments. . At first glance, beneath the flat sapphire crystal glass is a single layer flat black dial featuring white hour and minute markers with a date function placed to the right of the 3 hour mark. There is white hour and minute markers from 12’o clock to 6’o clock on the right hand side and red hour and minute markers from 6’o clock to 12’o clock on the left hand side referencing the engine’s rev limiter. The hour and minute hands feature a luminescent feature that is charged by direct sunlight so that you can time even when the sun goes down. The timepiece is powered by a 21- jewel Japanese Miyota automatic movement with a stainless steel case back with a stamped Six Speed Dials logo. To finish off, the timepiece can be paired with our exclusive Rolls Royce™ leather strap handmade in the U.S.A or with our stitched rubber silicone strap for a sportier look.
